They say that time flies, and they are certainly correct. The Bluto shape has been part of the Ming-Kahuna line-up since 2001. It’s an exceptionally practical tamper that features a simple yet elegant shape. As each one is hand carved they each retain their own individual personality, not to mention the myriad of materials that they have been done in. Never satisfied to rest on my laurels, last year I decided to kick the Bluto up a notch. The torpedo cigar shape was fine, but what is a cigar without an ash? As my work with aluminum has progressed greatly since 2001 it wasn’t a huge leap to add an ash to the Bluto featuring an aluminum tamp end with the texture of ash. The actual tamp surface remains flat and smooth.
For this piece I decided to use a fun material called Goldfinger. When viewed from the front/back it's a very rich rather transparent deep amber color with vertical striations. When viewed from the sides you have flashes of bright rich gold. The tamper looks so different depending how you look at it.
This tamper will come nestled in a Neil Flancbaum crafted buckskin leather pouch as well as a laminated photo ID ownership card. Domestic USPS Priority shipping and air mail for foreign orders is included in the listed price.
