You've got to be tough...

You've got to be tough...

When I took Max out early this morning to make his mark on my front lawn, on a particularly hot and steamy morning, there faintly visible through the ground fog was a Shroom like I had never seen before. After letting Max do his thing (a little bit here, a little bit there) I grabbed my camera and snapped a pic of the Shroom pushing up through the ground fog. Then, when the sun had risen and the fog had cleared, I snapped a pick of the other side, the one that you see above. That’s one tough Shroom, but you’ve got to be tough to grow in Georgia.

All kidding aside, while there where Shrooms on my front lawn this morning, that wasn’t one of them. That said, I’m pleased to introduce a new generation of Shrooms. Like earlier Shrooms the top caps will be crafted from woods, primarily briar like this one, with the stalks from 6063 grade aluminum (like this one) and other materials including acrylics. I’m really partial to combinations of aluminum and briar, and that will be a predominant theme. The prior version of Shrooms with bamboo and briar will continue, but I find this to be a fun new direction for a very unique interpretation of tamper art. The aluminum stalk of this one, much of it’s 2 3/8 inch length not visible, will feature various finishes including the FreeFall finish that you see here. The underside of the cap is wonderful plateau, the entire top cap finished with shellac in a very special buffed finish.

Stay tuned for a full look at this one, sans grass.
